CITES Sharks & Rays Protected!

Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of you for your support on the Shark Stanley campaign the last few months.

If you weren’t aware yet, all three elasmobranch proposals (Thresher Sharks, Silky Sharks, Mobula Rays) were accepted into Appendix II, which is the exact outcome we were hoping for! Furthermore, the proposals were all supported by a huge proportion of voting delegates, proving that many countries do support the future of sharks and rays!

We’d like to emphasise too that all of the images that you helped collect and all the social media sharing has made a difference! The booth at the CoP was filled with hundreds of your images, with an ongoing slideshow screen too, making a fantastic impression to visitors. You can see a couple of these images below:

For now, the Shark Stanley CITES campaign is over, but we do hope that you all continue to use the Shark Stanley materials for your shark education worldwide! All the lesson plans, books, and activities can be found here: http://sharkstanley.org/books/ http://sharkstanley.org/lesson-plans/

If you have any comments or thoughts you’d like to share with us, do feel free to shoot us a message!

Once again, thank you for all your help so far! We have all helped protect sharks and rays!
